ROC Software Announces ROC EasySpooler SUSE-Powered Appliance

Austin, Texas – Feb. 3, 2010 – ROC Software Systems Inc. announces the first release of the ROC EasySpooler SUSE-powered appliance. Based on the reliable ROC EasySpooler core technology and a fully supported version of SUSE Linux Enterprise from Novell, the appliance provides the highest level of print output management available to any business environment.

EasySpooler SUSE-powered appliance was developed as part of the SUSE Appliance Program, a comprehensive business and technology program that enables independent software vendors (ISVs) to rapidly build, test, manage and go to market with fully-supported software and virtual appliances. Pre-configured for quick deployment, the ROC EasySpooler SUSE-powered appliance is available in the VMware hypervisor environment and USB/disk images.

“The EasySpooler SUSE-powered appliance is a very good example of how ISVs can easily customize an enterprise-class product to create a smaller footprint, improve performance and reduce security vulnerabilities with a software appliance,” said Carlos Montero-Luque, vice president of Business and Product Management at Novell.“ The SUSE Appliance Program delivers the first fully-supported business and technical program to help ISVs, such as ROC Software, create tailored appliances with SUSE Studio, reduce development and support costs, and reach new markets at innovative price points.”

“With over 2,000 corporate and government customers already depending on EasySpooler to provide secure, central management of their print environments, EasySpooler SUSE-powered appliance expands that market into virtualization supporting UNIX, Linux and Microsoft Windows environments.” said Paul A. Scripko, ROC’s VP Business Development. “Joining the SUSE Appliance Program and having access to the SUSE Studio appliance building tools and marketing support from Novell helped ROC reduce development time to a matter of weeks and release product to market at a fraction of the usual time required.”
